WWII VIRTUAL MUSEUM
World War II, or the Second World War, spanned over six years (1939 - 1945) and involved a majority of the world's nations. Over 100 million people served in military units across the globe, and the war resulted in 50 - 70 million military / civilian fatalities--making the war the deadliest conflict in human history. During these trying times, ordinary men rose to an extraordinary challenge and became heroes.
We are dedicated to remembering and honoring the men and women who sacrificed much for the freedoms we now enjoy. For your review, we have assembled a virtual museum of items and people who shaped the events of the United States' involvement in World War Two. The museum is organized by theater of war: Pacific, North Africa, Italy, and Western Europe. Each section contains the stories of people and items involved in the events transpiring in that theater of war. Photos, letters, helmets, uniforms, weapons, medals, flags, and other militaria all tell a story of a time when heroes were born and freedom were won--all a part of the Greatest Generation. Enjoy.
